{ John Glenn } ~ The Right Stuff

John Glenn died December 8th 2016.

He was only the fifth human to enter space and the first American to orbit the earth in February 20th, 1962.

He entered politics as a US Senator and even tried a run as the Democratic nominee losing out to Mondale.

In 1998, he lobbied NASA to be included on the Discovery shuttle launched into space.  There might have been better qualified candidates but he certainly was the sentimental choice.  A cartoon done when it was announced that he would be part of the Discovery team.  A play on words from Tom Wolfe's famous book "The Right Stuff" which was turned into a movie, and focused on those iconic Mercury astronauts.

Glenn was the last surviving member of the "Mercury Seven" astronauts.
RIP John Glenn.
